MONTESANO, Wash. - A Shelton man allegedly assaulted a security officer at the Grays Harbor Superior Court yesterday. Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate with the Sheriff's Department tells us the 28 year old man was appearing for a dependency hearing involving his daughter when he continued to be disruptive and not following the judges warnings to be quiet.
Shortly thereafter, the judge ordered courtroom security officers to place the subject in custody for contempt of court. Two courtroom security officers attempted to arrested the subject when the man assaulted one of the officers. The Shelton man was eventually arrested and escorted to the Grays Harbor County Jail. He was subsequently booked for Assault 3rd degree. The assaulted officer received minor injuries and was later treated by a doctor. The officer was able to return to work today.
